Employee Spotlight: Shereeka Cole

PDG staff have many hidden talents. From swing dancers to Karate black belts, our Mental Health Care Coordinators are a diverse and talented group.

Shereeka Cole-Anderson, one of our Anne Arundel County Coordinators, is no less interesting. Originally from Jamaica, this passionate social worker also has a penchant for writing.

Shereeka graduated from the University of Maryland’s Master’s in Social Work program and believes wholeheartedly in the power of self-care and healthy boundaries. As a result of her studies and work in the mental healthcare field, Shereeka published a book in 2016 that delved into the importance of positive self-care practices and setting healthy boundaries. In addition to her book, Shereeka journals and maintains a blog.

“There’s so much creativity with writing,” Shereeka says. “We all make errors and no one is perfect…but from a young age I was told I have a good vocabulary and writing skills. I try to incorporate writing into my daily routine.”

Shereeka didn’t stop with writing, though! This driven young woman is also an entrepreneur and women’s advocate. She owns a nonprofit that provides resources and mentoring to those in need.

Shereeka has plans for another book that advocates for women’s issues, as well as an aromatherapy business. Shereeka isn’t daunted at all by the challenges of juggling social work, entrepreneurship, and her passion. Shereeka believes “all things are possible!”
