Race & Protests

June 2nd, 12:39 pm

To Our Valued Staff,

My Dad worked in the Civil Rights Division of the US Department of Justice, and in 1963 he took me with him to the March on Washington. We marched together, were tear gassed together, and the importance of making our voices heard against injustice and discrimination has always been in my DNA. We strongly support the role of peaceful protest and your decision to participate.

We also recognize that for all of our staff members, this may be a time of intense emotion and grief, and we share your outrage at the racially-motivated violence we have, and continue to witness.

There are peaceful protests planned throughout the Balt/ Wash/Annap areas now and throughout the week. Whether you plan to participate in these events or are simply traveling through the community, please be vigilant, be aware, and be smart.

Know that we are all available to support you, and that the valuable work you do every day for your consumers continues to chip away at the many disparities present in our communities. If you are struggling, please speak to your supervisor, or to any member of our management team. We are here for you.

Peace,
Morris Tranen
